At the event organized by Istanbul Medipol University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nohutçu gave students information about the public vocational exams they will take after graduation and advised them on career planning.

In the program moderated by Asst. Prof. Ergün Dilaveroğlu, Nohutçu, a faculty member at Istanbul Medeniyet University, emphasized that everyone has a purpose in life.

Stating that work done with good intentions can take people beyond their dreams, Nohutçu said: "You need a map to succeed. Working hard is not necessary, but working adequately and correctly. It is nice to know a lot, but it is more important to appreciate it. Have a questioning nature. The inquiring mind sees the light and takes action. You are the young people who will have a say in the future of this country. If you start your studies now, you will see that you will overcome obstacles one by one to achieve your goals both in your education life and in your career. I dreamed of becoming a district governor but became an academician instead. That's why I am so happy."
 

Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Arslan and the CoSINC Research Group he leads were accepted as full members of 6G-IA (The 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association), one of Europe's most respected communication communities. 6G-IA is considered one of the most compelling communities in 5G and 6G studies, aiming to increase cooperation by bringing together many leading industries and research groups in Europe.

The scientific evaluation process of the projects proposed to the Academic Research Funding Program Directorate (ARDEB) in the 2nd period of 2023 within the scope of TÜBİTAK "1001 - The Scientific and Technological Research Projects Funding Program" has been completed. As a result of the evaluation, eight academicians from Istanbul Medipol University were accepted with the projects they had prepared. In the 2nd period of 2023, 1,388 of the 1,474 project proposals submitted under the 1001 programme were taken into scientific evaluation. As a result of the evaluation, it has been decided to fund 225 project proposals, and 29 project proposals were conditionally accepted, provided that the deficiencies were completed.

Asst. Prof. Ayşe Esra KARADAĞ, from the School of Pharmacy of Istanbul Medipol University, has developed a herbal product named “Kruidenfar Kamomint”. Being standardised, the product also contains different plant extracts; Karadağ said it would be helpful due to its cell-regenerating properties in the throat and mouth. About the product, which is used to repair the skin in skin irritations, Karadağ said: “This product, which emerged as a TÜBİTAK project output; since it does not contain any preservatives, colourants, sweeteners and alcohol, it can be safely used both in the mouth and on the skin for ages two and above. All biological activity studies of the product, which is very simple and clean in terms of content, were conducted, and toxicity tests were completed. It has not been released to the market with a drug licence in the known sense, but we can call it a herbal cosmeceutical product.”

“TÜRKİYE HAS A RICH FLORA”

Having worked at Istanbul Medipol University for ten years, Karadağ says, ‘’Türkiye has such a rich and fertile flora to develop herbal products’’. Noting that she continues to work to increase the quality and standard herbal products in Türkiye, Karadağ said: “For years, I have been examining the ‘standard herbal products’ that exist, especially in Germany, at every opportunity. Sometimes, I take samples and work on them. My goal and dream is to see high-quality, standard herbal products in the Turkish market. We started working for this purpose and have built our mission in this direction. In Germany, a significant part of the raw materials for herbal products comes from Türkiye. Our country is prosperous and fertile in terms of flora. I established my company within Teknopark to evaluate this with a scientific output. The product we have developed has not been released to the market with a ‘drug licence’ as it is known, but we can call it a herbal phytotherapeutic product.’’

Istanbul Medipol University Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Ceran, has participated in the 'Images of the Year' voting, which includes photographs of the events that marked the year 2023 through the eyes of Anadolu Agency (AA). Ceran has examined 147 photographs taken by AA photojournalists and reporters at home and abroad, submitted for voting in five categories. Ceran selected Aytuğ Can Sencar's photographs titled "Türkiye’s Century" in the "News" category, Alper Tüydeş's "Who's Here?" in the "Environment-Life" category, and David Alvaro's "Support for Gaza" in the "Sports" category. In the special "Earthquake: Hope", added this year, our Rector has voted for Murat Şengül's "Welcome" and Mustafa Hassan's "Gaza: Evidence" category and Mustafa Hassona's photographs titled "Last Touch to Brother".

REKTÖR CERAN: ANADOLU AGENCY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEWS AGENCY IN OUR COUNTRY

Ceran, who made statements to Anadolu Agency Correspondent Berfin Kıraç after the voting, stated that Anadolu Agency is our country's most essential news agency. With more than 100 years of history, Anadolu Agency is the face of our country in terms of receiving news. Ceran said, "The photographs taken by Anadolu Agency, a well-established institution, both raise awareness among citizens and provide an important source for social memory. In 2023, the earthquake and the attacks in Gaza went down in history as painful events. All the frames presented for voting are wonderful frames that have emerged due to great labour. Especially the photographs showing us the human tragedy in Gaza are significant. The massacres in Gaza should not fall off the public agenda. In this sense, I appreciate Anadolu Agency for impartially reporting the events and keeping them on the agenda. The photographs taken for the world to see these realities will be unforgettable for me. I want to thank the management and employees of Anadolu Agency who contributed to the shooting and presentation of the photographs."
